Chris and I were meeting a few weeks ago to compare calendars. When he found out I did a back-to-school pool party and I found out he did a back-to-school BBQ, we decided to combine the two events. After the event, we noticed some glaring errors that were the result of miscommunication.

There’s a secret ingredient to any ministry that puts it over the edge and makes it effective. This secret moves you from speaking to a brick wall to actively engaging students with God’s truth. And the secret might be more obvious than you think.

I’m not sure what the fascination is with FailBlog. I read it regularly, always busting my guts at the stupidity of some people. I think to myself, “I would never do that!”

Realizing that we had the same goal in mind, Chris and I decided to do our leadership meetings together. Chris is the youth pastor down the street from me. We’ve done events together and I consider Chris one of my good friends. So it seems natural that we would want to team up to do this.

If you haven’t noticed, Southern California is on fire. This hits especially close to home, because I can see the fire from my house.

Adam McLane, over at his blog, just posted a very insightful post on starting a new ministry. He explains some of his fears and some of the life lessons he has learned. This is a great post for anyone on the brink of starting something new, or thinking about starting a new ministry.

What kind of network is your church a part of? I started this blog a month ago and have learned a lot about networking as a result of this project. At first, I imagined there to be only one kind of network. But I have found that to be far from the truth.
